#11 on the checklist “Make sure your fireplace flue is closed” reminded me of something else important. The cooler weather is coming, which may mean you want to use your fireplace. This month, I ran into some very friendly people that clean chimneys. They asked me if we could get rid of the smell from dead animals that have fallen down the chimney. In case you wondered the same thing, Yes! We can. I asked them how often you should clean your chimney. They said, usually you want to do it every 1 to 3 years depending on how often you use it.
